Clifford U. Young, M.D.

Clifford U. Young, M.D., a board-certified internal medicine physician, has spent over 30 years providing care to underserved communities in Brooklyn.

Originally from St. Vincent, Dr. Young earned his undergraduate degree from CUNY Hunter College in 1983 and his medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center in 1989. He completed his internship at Bronx Municipal Hospital Center in 1990 and his residency in internal medicine at Kings County Hospital Center in 1992, staying on as an attending physician at the Emergency Department of Kings County Hospital Center for the next ten years.

He started working for Woodhull Hospital in September 1992, where he spent a significant amount of his post at one of the hospital’s outpatient clinics, Bushwick Health Center. After this time, his duties expanded to practicing at Cumberland Diagnostic Medical Center. Currently, he works only part-time at NYC Health + Hospitals/Gotham Health, Cumberland (previously known as Cumberland Diagnostic Medical Center). Throughout his career, he has been deeply committed to improving access to healthcare for indigent populations.

Dr. Young attributes much of his success to his mentor, Dr. Charles R. Green, the former dean at SUNY Downstate. Dr. Green's guidance profoundly impacted his journey as a physician. Inspired by Dr. Green's open-door policy, Dr. Young has embraced the same approach throughout his medical practice.

In addition to his hospital work, Dr. Young and his wife, Hilma, have operated Citi Medical of Canarsie for over 20 years, offering comprehensive care to the Canarsie community.

His dedication to patient-centered, preventative care has been the cornerstone of his professional life, ensuring that underserved populations receive the attention and treatment they deserve.
